Authorities say Brian Delaney, 43, died after a drunk driver hit him head on while driving the wrong way on U.S. Highway 93 south of Kalispell. The drunk driver’s passenger, who has not been named, also died in the wreck.
Alcohol has been listed as a factor causing a Joseph Powell, 46, to cross the center lane and crash head-on into another vehicle.
Delaney was pronounced dead on the scene while the other victim was taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
The Montana Highway Patrol reports the driver that caused the crash was most likely under the influence of alcohol at the time. Powell faces preliminary charges of negligent homicide.
